Tonight's darkness made me want to post a moon photo.  From the archive... The moon on a cloudy night on Peaks Island, Maine.  Can't wait til the next full moon.

* Cancer Community Center: Cycle 4 Care 2013 quick recap

The third annual Cycle4Care event on Friday night benefiting the Cancer Community Center was a success. University of New England's Finley Recreation Center in Portland, Maine, housed at least 100 spinning bikes that were donated by local businesses, along with all the food and other services, to accommodate hundreds of riders from 4pm to midnight. Dad and I survived our two hours, and my friend Ed Myers even joined in donating his time and money. The trainers who lead each hour's spinning session really kicked it up a notch this year. Wasn't expecting that, but loved it. I now see how one could ride for four hours taking up the Ultimate Challenge and raising $500. The first hour was a killer warm-up, second hour we felt great, and I'm sure in the third and fourth you'd hit your stride and pedal hard knowing it was the last hour. Maybe next year! The great thing about this event is that you can pedal hard or hardly pedal, so anyone can come ride in this fun event.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all the folks to who donated. It is truly appreciated and the Cancer Community Center couldn't exist without your help. Most importantly, the patrons wouldn't have free support during a life changing period.

* Singles: Magnetic Poetry

The Magnetic Poetry is back on my fridge.  It is quite tedious to pull out all those teeny tiny letters, but the reward is literary entertainment at your fingertips!  I highly recommend getting one.  I have the original, but seems they have come up with tons more options on their website.  I ain't no poet, but I'm still goin' to show it.

* Mystic Seminars 2013 Photo Workshop in Mystic, CT

Denise Farwell and I just attended the eighth Mystic Seminars in Connecticut and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.  A world of difference from WPPI in Las Vegas, which I attended the last two years.  We took a fantastic day-long lighting course with Joe McNally and got to hear from some wonderful, talented speakers and photographers like Parker J. Pfister, Roberto Valenzuela, and Sue Bryce.  Photo workshops, particularly in the off-season of my shooting, is a great way to break up the winter, meet new folks in the photography world, gain new insight to my shooting, and, most of all, be inspired to make better imagery.
