* emilie inc.: Lyndsay + Anthony's Wedding at the Inn on Peaks on Peaks Island, Maine

Despite living down the street from the Inn on Peaks Island and having shot my fair share of weddings there, I still love it.  For me, there is a beautiful harmony of shooting the familiar and being challenged to see that same familiar more creatively and in a different way each time I am there.  Lyndsay and Anthony's wedding was a perfect day full of happy moments for me to document.  These two were so laid-back and cute together.  I loved seeing them interact with each other as well as the family and friends they had present to celebrate their big day with.  There is an ease about this couple and it rubbed off on everyone throughout the festivities, including myself!  I was impressed to learn that Anthony not only has comedic skills, he also dabbles in design as the ceremony programs were all his doing.

Although St. Christopher's Church was a tad toasty (it was one of those days my cameras were slipping from my hands it was so hot!), Father Lou conducted a wonderful ceremony.  The reception tent might have looked the prettiest I've seen it.  Judy of Flora Fauna did a beautiful job.  I was happy to meet DJ Jon and learn he is the brains behind the weekly '80s night at Bubba's Sulky Lounge.  He was a pleasure to work with, looked sharp in his three-piece suit, and spun some great tunes that kept guests on the dance floor.  Anthony's mother Jeannette took three days to bake the traditional Italian cookies for both the rehearsal dinner and wedding!  She forced me to take some home so, of course, I had to oblige!  I got so sidetracked loading up on the cookies, I forgot about grabbing a Drumstick from the Haagen-Dazs freezer Lyndsay and Anthony had rolled in.  But I guarantee, Jeannette's cookies were the better choice. Lyndsay and Anthony, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your wedding weekend!  I loved every minute of it and am truly happy for you two.  I hope you enjoy your trip to Italy later this year!  My Irish-Sicilian father (who of course identifies with his Sicilian side often, despite actually being more Irish) would be jealous.  Have a blast and, again, congratulations on your marriage!

* emilie inc.: Lyndsay + Anthony's Rehearsal Dinner at Becky's Diner in Portland, Maine

Hot Maine weather, Becky's Diner, Peaks Island, Austin Prep grads, navy and white stripes, a wedding dress to die for, homemade Italian cookies, a freezer full of Haagen-Dazs ice cream, and loads of laughter and love… all of my favorite things.  Lynsday and Anthony managed to have a fabulous wedding weekend to kick off my emilie inc. season.  Even before the start of their union, this wedding had great timing.  So much so, a couple weeks before I was checking in for my Jet Blue flight at Logan Airport in Boston (my friends Sean and former emilie inc. studio manager Nicole were getting married in St. John USVI, the same destination Em and J got married!), the woman at the counter asked if Peaks Island was nice, after seeing the address on my license, and said she was headed to a wedding there.  A couple more questions and I said, "Well, I'll see you there, I am Lyndsay and Anthony's wedding photographer!"  Kathy was so sweet and kindly gave me an upgrade to an ever-coveted extra leg room seat.

After her family moved from the Bangor/Brewer area, Lyndsay attended Falmouth high school and became friends with Katie Rand (whose mother is the Becky in Becky's Diner) and the two worked at the diner together.  Katie and the Becky's crew hosted Lyndsay and Anthony's rehearsal dinner of almost 50 people on the top deck of the Portland establishment.  After meeting a beaming couple off the Peaks Island ferry, we hopped in a cab to stave off some of the heat we would have felt walking down Commercial Street to the diner.  I think we were all still dying of the heat though!  The night was relaxed and Becky's served up some good lookin' grub.  It was so nice to meet Lyndsay and Anthony's families the night before the big day.  Anthony, who hails from Arlington, MA not far from where I grew up, introduced me to his comic side during portraits.  He had both Lyndsay and I in stitches as he looked lovingly into Lyndsay's eyes and told her how bad her breath smelled from the salad dressing.  Her laughter was infectious.  Seeing these two together like this made me extra excited for what was to come the following day.
