* Greendrinks: Gorham Bike and Ski + Portland Trails

At their new Congress Street location, Gorham Bike and Ski hosts the June Greendrinks event with great success. Portland Trails is also a sponsor, along with Local Sprouts, Maine Mead Works, Grandy Oats, and the always present and palatable Sebago Brewing Company. Bike valet is offered and Greendrinkers enjoy the Maine Mead Works tasting tent outside with some refreshing rain air.

* Greendrinks: Habitat for Humanity ReStore

Greendrinks' second event of 2009 held at Habitat For Humanity of Greater Portland's ReStore on February 10th. A huge turnout of locals saw firsthand the plethora of building supplies available for sale to the general public. Think of it as a mini-Home Depot, but better, since all the money made supports Habitat's home building program. You can find everything from doorknobs to windows, lamps to refrigerators, sinks to cabinets, and toilets to paint. As explained on their website, "The ReStore supplies overstocked, discontinued, new and used building materials donated by manufacturers, stores, contractors and individuals. These donated items are sold to the public or used in construction of Habitat homes. All revenue from sales support our building program."

Other sponsors at the Portland Greendrinks event included Peak Organic Brewing, Sebago Brewing, and Maine Mead Works.

* Greendrinks: CIEE + Nomads

On Tuesday, January 13, the first Greendrinks event of 2009 kicks off with a great turn-out of people at the offices of CIEE on Fore Street in Portland, ME and is co-sponsored by Nomads, the niche clothing boutique for adventure-seekers located on Commercial Street. Greendrinkers get to know each other playing a travel and environmentally-related game of Bingo and watch a slideshow illustrating the ecological and environmental programs offered at CIEE. While munching on some organic Grandy Oats, people enjoyed beer courtesy of Peak Organic Brewing and Sebago Brewing Company -- all local Maine businesses.
